Traditional 2

Believe it or not, this lengha skirt only cost me $80.00 (fabric and stitching included). There are plenty of Indian clothing stores within the GTA that offer some beautiful pieces, however it is very hard to find that one piece you are looking for, and the cost of the item may not be in one’s budget. The solution? Why not make it yourself? (yeah, yeah I am aware that stitching is not everyone’s forte – I wasn’t the one who stitched this skirt, heck, my stitching skills are nonexistent, however I had the design of the skirt planted in my brain). Simple and flowy is what I wanted, nothing too over the top since I was only going for an engagement party. I LOVE the fit of the skirt – the band around my waist fits perfectly and provides a really elegant flow of the fabric that follows. A HUGE thank you to my tailor, she did such an excellent job that I didn’t even need any alterations done to the piece when I tried it on.
For those of you who are within driving distance to Brampton, Ontario, Jagjit Textiles (located on 99 Kennedy Road South) provides a great selection of fabrics (the store is huge!). The fabric of the skirt is raw silk, and I also had my tailor add a cotton slip underneath to give better flow to the fabric.
