Habana
On November 19th, 2016 two of my girlfriends and
I flew off to Cuba for a week-long trip. Ah, one week of vacation, one week
away from work, one week of pure relaxation - I couldn’t wait!!
We stayed at the Be Live – Las Morlas resort. The resort was
clean, the staff were friendly, and majority of the tourists staying did not
speak a word of English (which wasn’t a bad thing at all, considering that my
friends and I wanted to escape reality and just enjoy ourselves). Most of this post features old Havana, or as the Cuban’s call it, Habana. Old Havana boasts of rich culture; The Spanish colonial architecture from the 16th century alone makes one feel that they are transported to another world.

The author has done such an excellent job describing her adventures in Havana.
For those of you planning a trip to Cuba – I have provided a
list of do’s and don’ts that you should consider.
-
Do bring toilet paper with you – your resort
will be well equipped, however if you go out into the city, you will need to
fend for yourself!
-
Do remember to tip. If you are going to use the
public rest room, you will need to tip, if you want good service, you will need
to tip. All in all, 1 peso or 2 will suffice
-
Do go on excursions. You can book them through your
airline itself. A representative comes directly to your resort to meet with you
and talk about what is available. We went snorkeling in the Caribbean Sea,
hopped onto a Jeep Safari and spent one day in old Havana. FYI, if you’re going
into Havana, see if you can flag down a taxi on your own (it will be cheaper
than booking through the agent).
-
Do bring ketchup and hot sauce with you. The food
isn’t the best (which was a complete shock to me), but the crystal-clear
beaches and beauty of Cuba, make up for it.
